Probably the most important part of
this industry is the ability to produce images that look the way
you want them to look when printed. There are so many variables
from capturing the imaging, seeing it on your monitor, making
adjustments, and finally trying to produce a print that has the
same tones you have created.
You could spend countless hours
working on your computer making all these corrections, and if
you are not calibrated to the lab, you will still end up getting
back something different that what your monitor displayed.
|
So you are left with two options:
Build a
relationship with HS Photo and let our professionals
handle your color correction for you – OR – work with us
to get your monitor calibrated so that you can see as
closely as possible the color gamut that our printers
produce. Either way you go, we can help
BREAK THE CHAIN
that keeps
you tied to the computer for hours on end.

Naturally we all tend to lean one way or
the other in creating our style of imagery. Some of us
like a "warm" saturated image, others lean more toward a
"colder" muted color preference.
However,
there are industry standard guides that we use when
color correcting your images. These guides have been
created to provide a neutral print with regards to
overall color, skin tone, brightness, and contrast. When
your images are sent to HS Photo they are individually
adjusted to this standard. We also look at the group of
images as a whole, to provide consistency throughout
your order.

Guide Prints
If
you have developed a style and a look that is uniquely
yours and it varies from this “neutral standard”, then
we are more than happy to work with you to produce guide
prints. These guides will then be kept as a reference
when your particular orders come in for processing. This
allows us to adjust your images the way you want them to
look. It may be that you like your images cooler,
warmer, darker, lighter, or with more or less contrast
and saturation than the next person. So, if you like the
thought of allowing us to handle all the color
correction for you, but really want to have a little
more say in the final result, then give us a call today.
Let’s start talking about what you are looking for and
work on getting these guides established for your
personal account.

Studio Corrected Prints
We realize that photographers are
also artists, and some artists want to have complete
control over the creative process. This includes taking
the time to tweak every aspect of the image to create
their masterpiece. Once the final image has been created
you really don’t want anyone else to touch it – and we
offer a solution for you at HS Photo. Studio
Corrected Prints can be ordered
through HS ProDigital (ROES) which are lower in price
and will not be adjusted before output to a
printer. If this sounds great to you then please make
sure you give us the opportunity to work with you on
calibration, color management, and test prints before
taking the leap (SEE COLOR MANAGEMENT in the Resource
Center link). By ordering this way you are taking
complete responsibility for the final look of the print,
and are no longer eligible for remakes based on color.
